Vertical Bore VB500A

The Winona Van Norman VB Series Vertical Boring Machines are industrial-grade boring mills engineered to deliver exceptional accuracy, rigidity, and productivity for professional engine rebuilding. Designed specifically for automotive, diesel, industrial, and performance engine applications, the VB Series combines advanced engineering with heavy-duty construction to provide superior machining accuracy and faster operation than conventional boring bar systems.
Each VB Series machine features a stationary boring head and a precision movable worktable. By keeping the boring head fixed, the machine achieves maximum rigidity and minimizes deflection, resulting in highly accurate, repeatable cylinder bores. Universal holding fixtures and a fully adjustable table allow quick setup of a wide variety of engine blocks, while side-to-side and fore-and-aft table movement make it easy to precisely center each cylinder—even if the block is not mounted perfectly square. An integrated dial indicator simplifies alignment and ensures accurate positioning before machining begins.
Designed for maximum machining flexibility, the VB Series offers adjustable spindle speeds and feed rates to optimize cutting performance, extend tool life, and produce superior surface finishes. These features make the machines ideal for large overbores, allowing operators to perform aggressive roughing cuts that reduce the need for secondary finishing passes. A micrometric manual feed provides precise depth control for counterboring cylinder sleeves, while adjustable automatic boring stops improve consistency and free operators to perform other tasks during the machining cycle. Depending on the model, automatic or operator-controlled rapid boring head retraction further increases efficiency and throughput.
Combining precision machining, operator-friendly features, and rugged construction, the Winona Van Norman VB Series delivers the accuracy, reliability, and productivity professional machine shops depend on for high-quality engine rebuilding and machining operations.

Product Information
Operations
For the big jobs! This machine has an infinitely variable spindle rotation, table traverse, and boring feed. An added exclusive WVN feature is electronic Dual Axis Variable Speed movement of the table. This allows the operator to position the workpiece with joystick controls on the control panel, dramatically reducing the effort required to center the spindle in cylinders for boring operation setup.
